Question #183
Why are you so liberal?
I cannot believe how liberal some of the opinions voiced in this site have become. What has happened to your first love?
The Answer:
This “question” comes from a reader who obviously disagrees with something, though he does not identify the difference or state any particular grievance. One might suspect that he read something he did not like, was unable to refute it, and was left with attacking the web site. Apparently he felt "more comfortable” with our website in the beginning, since he describes it has “hav[ing] become” liberal.
The comment might receive the response that our website must be doing something right because it is being shot at by both conservatives and liberals. However, such a response would be just as empty and meaningless as the comment itself. To be more specific, no reasonable response can be made to an unreasoned comment. All our website can do is to reiterate what it has said before. It makes no effort to “align” itself with left or right. It does seek to expound the word of God and to stand right in the middle of the word. It will do its best to defend the teaching of scripture. Some disagree in kindness and with stated reasons. Others, like this one, can do nothing but attach labels. It is not even a poor defense of a position because it is no defense at all. Such an approach is generally used who know their “position” as stated by their “leaders,” but have no inkling of a germ of an idea as to why they believe it. How sad!
