Question #47
What about Hebrews 4:10-17?
In Hebrews 10 is the “them” in verse 14 the same group as the “them” in verse 16 and the “their” in verse 17? [KJV]
The Answer:
The passage to which you refer reads: “14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. 15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.” (Hebrews 10:14-18, KJV.)
Clearly, the pronouns to which you refer all related to “them that are sanctified.” (The second “them” in verse 16, “in their minds will I write them,’ relates, of course, refers to the laws that God puts into the hearts of the sanctified.) These verses are the basis of the blessings and exhortations that follow for the Hebrew Christians.
